TIMO RAUTIAINEN & TRIO NISKALAUKAUS Calls It Quits

Finnish metal band TIMO RAUTIAINEN & TRIO NISKALAUKAUS, which released a number of gold- and platinum-certified albums in its home country while continuing to sing in its native language, has officially called it quits, according to Noise.fi. The band went on an indefinite hiatus in the fall of 2004 but has now announced that it will split up for good.

Despite the group's breakup, the individual members are expected to continue making music with their own separate projects. Poko Records will release the debut single from NISKALAUKAUS drummer Seppo Pohjolainen's band SEPPO ALVARI & MAMBOO KINGS (in which Seppo handles the vocals, not drums),entitled "Rakkauden Kroisos". Bass player Nils Ursin is currently focusing on famiy life following the birth of his first child. He also plays in the prog-metal band ARCHED, which is currently recording a demo with a view towards procuring a label deal. Guitarists Jari Huttunen and Jarkko Petosalmi are continuing to play together in the band DARK DAYS AHEAD (DDA). Petosalmi is also a member of WHERE VICTIMS LIE.

Timo Rautiainen will release the third single, "Uskonnonpastori", from his debut solo album, "Sarvivuori", on November 8. The single will also include live material recorded on his summer tour. Rautiainen is expected to release his sophomore solo album sometime in the spring.
